Beautiful Book Ends

Stainless Steel Curl Book Ends

I am utterly enamored with these gorgeous Stainless Steel Curl Book Ends ($18) from Hammer It Out. A beautiful shape and patina, they're the perfect mix of industrial and ornate. I think they strike an excellent balance between masculine and feminine too! Perfect if you have a rather opinionated man in your life like I do!

Customizing Your Facebook Page

Better late than never, right? I know it's super-late, but I had such a busy day! You ever have one of those days where you feel like you never stop running around? (I just heard like half of you mutter, "every day".)

So here's something to brighten the stressful lives of you business owners out there! Or anyone with a Facebook Page. Pagemodo is a free service (there's a premium option too) that helps you easily design a pretty and professional look for your FB page. It designs quickly and practically publishes itself to your FB page. I really don't know why you wouldn't use it!

I've got this on the docket for tomorrow or Wednesday (whenever the housework gets done). Let me know when you plan on doing it and we can hold each other accountable.

Twelve By 2012

I was reading over at Oh, Hello Friend today and saw Danni's newest post: Twelve By 2012. Thankfully, she invited us all to join along, which prompted me to be a bit less lazy. The idea is that you make a list of twelve things to get done in these (almost) 80 days before the year ends. Make them manageable, but definitely big goals. I think it's just the right amount of time for a list like this. Hopefully my goals aren't too far out of reach!

1. Finish decorating and organizing my studio space in our new place.
2. Fill up my jewelry shop online so there's product there to sell.
3. Finish the self-critique pdf I've been working on.
4. List all those things on eBay that are sitting in boxes in the dining room.
5. Create lovely gifts for all our family members for Christmas.
6. Actually decorate the apartment for Christmas this year.
7. Discover a great method of staging the photos of my intaglio prints.
8. Add more options to my indiepreneur coaching services.
9. Make a plan for my portfolio website.
10. Find a dance studio in our new city.
11. Create a mood board for the living room.
12. Actually work toward each and every one of these goals, ultimately completing them even if it's in the new year.

Wow! That list looks long after writing them all out.... but with your encouragement I think I might be able to accomplish the whole thing! Help remind me to get off my butt and do something, please!

PS - thanks, Danni for the inspiration and the fun graphic to go along with the project!!

Let's Go Hiking

Greeting Card for Autumn . Let's Go For a Hike . Handwritten Calligraphy . Olive

As the leaves change, I've been craving a hike. We live in the general vicinity of the Piedmont so it's just a day trip to go hiking in the mountains. Too bad we've both grown out of our boots. But at least I can enjoy this beautiful autumn greeting card, Let's Go For A Hike ($6) from Sparrow Nest Script. The shop has the most beautiful cards with handmade illustrations and calligraphy, using high quality paper and ink. I love the holiday cards like this halloween one, the "you're a peach" card, and the "you're my very favorite" greeting card.

Pretty Pinterest: Nail Art

Pinned Image

I couldn't resist, so I decided to go ahead and do the Pinterest nail art post. Oh, I know you're excited too! A lot of these seem fairly easy to pull off. Remember that the trick is knowing whether your first polish needs to be wet or dry. If it's dry, make sure you give it a good hour before you add the next polish or you risk re-wetting the first polish and thus messing it up. If you're into the BBC, you'll want to make it to the end. Promise. Onwards toward inspiration, my friends!!

Halloween and Beyond

Nora James Leather Double Strap Harness Belt

Ever wished you didn't spend a fortune on your Halloween costume only to never wear it again? Yeah, I get it. Here are a few pieces that will take you through that spooky night, but can also be lovely after the holiday with some styling tweaks.

Above, the Nora James Harness Belt ($120) by Audra Jean is so dominatrix! I can think of a hundred costumes this works with. And when Halloween is over, this styles so cute over a form-fitting top. Try to keep the other details in your outfit simple and you won't look over-the-top. I'd wear it over my tightest jewel-toned top with a flowly mid-length skirt. It's so sexy, but still appropriate to wear in front of grandma.

Speaking of flowy skirts, the Dance Til Dawn Skirt ($26) from Sosie is perfect if you're going to be a witch for Halloween. Just add a black top and shoes, and pick up a five dollar witches hat at walmart. You can bedeck yourself in jewels too for a little extra noticeability if you're hoping to catch someone's eye in your sexy witch getup. And afterward, you can style this pretty skirt with a sparkly top for a night out or a tucked-in tee for class. Have to be work-appropriate? A silky blouse will look great tucked into this soft skirt.

Black Silver Tentacle Ring

And if you're not dressing up, but still want to be festive, I recommend getting some vaguely-creepy bling. Adding jewelry to your black and orange outfit can make you seem a little more spirited... no one wants to be a spoil sport! I really like this Black Silver Tentacle Ring ($200) by Heron Adornment. This can be worn practically anytime your outfit needs a punch, Halloween or not.
