Decor Inspiration

Pinned Image

Upon looking at this gorgeous, stunning, amazing photo (found on Pinterest via Calee Himes), I've finally made the official decision that my living room is going to be in white, shades of grey, and ink blue. Done. And to start me off in finding decor, I'll paint my nails this beautiful matte blue.

Easy Polish Tricks

Chevron French Manicure- Step 3

This 3 Easy Nail-Art Designs article came out on Refinery 29 yesterday. And it's excellent. These tips are really simple and incredibly cute. You don't even have to buy anything new since you can just use a toothpick when they say you need a small brush. The three designs they show are ombre, cute little spots, and the triangle ones shown above.

If you like sophisticated nail art, you should check out some of the awesome finds on Pinterest. Maybe I'll do a Pretty Pinterest feature on them sometime soon!

Pretty Pinterest: Indian Headdresses

There's something about the headdress that is so inspiring, beautiful, stylish, and honestly very thought-provoking and spiritual. So for today's Pretty Pinterest, I thought I'd explore some various iterations. I'm not even delving into the absolute adorableness of the little children wearing them that you can also find all over Pinterest. Anyway, I won't do too much commentary so we can let the photos speak for themselves. Deal?

A Gift For The Guys

Natural Weathered Wood and Moss Briefcase

Trying to figure out a gift for your beau, brother, dad, or best guy friend in the world? Yeah, I'm always looking too. Why are they so gosh-darn hard to buy for? Well, here's your next big purchase: a Natural Weathered Wood and Moss Briefcase ($250) by Mr. Lentz. I love the organic, unfinished quality it has. I think it works for the more put-together men in your life best.

Bold and Colorful

Blue, Orange and Seafoam Double Chevron Antler - Large

Since yesterday's post on super-bright pink and orange was so pretty pretty, I decided to focus today on more bold, colorful pieces from Etsy. This time it's more of a crayola feel, for sure. I'm smitten with this decorative Double Chevron Antler ($75) by Cassandra Smith. And I really love this pretty Orange Seed Bird Print ($15) by Bark Decor which has even been featured on the tv show Better With You.

All My Friends Crochet Necklace Create Your Own Color Trend - 2 for 30 dollars

And the All My Friends Crochet Necklace ($30 for two) by Lavender Field is spectacular, mostly because you can choose which colors you like! I love anything that lets me customize. And truly, the possibilities are endless.

New Bright Color Palette

SALE Woven Cowl in Hot Pink Mix

I'm not normally one for bright colors... but I have a thing for this purply pink and bright orange combo. So I've rounded up a few choices from Etsy and J. Crew. Yes, I normally give you a few more sources, but I just feel swamped lately. So you're getting two, or four if you think of Etsy as simply a host for lots of wonderful stores.

This color palette is expertly executed with the Woven Cowl ($69) from Celapiu. But you can easily achieve a similar look my pairing all sorts of clothing and accessories. I love a casual Sun-drenched Sweatshirt ($40) from J. Crew with some skinny jeans and a gorgeous Edie Purse in pecan, also from J. Crew.

Add in these Ornamentia Earrings ($18) by Silent Goddess and you're ready to go out!

And if you're looking for something a little more girly, this Eco Friendly Dress ($21) by Fintintan is absolutely lovely coupled with a nice Skinny Leather Belt in Autumn Blaze ($34) by J. Crew.

Some other nice pieces in this color pattern include a Scarf, Gloves, Nail Polish, Watch Strap, and Tights, all from J. Crew.

What are your favorite orange and purply-pink pieces this season?

Getting My Kicks

I noticed the other day that I no longer own a pair of sneakers. Somehow during my various moves (out of my parent's house, out of the dorm room, to a new city) I've given all of my tennis shoes to Goodwill. Why I did that, I have no idea. But none of them were very attractive anyway. So I've found this gorgey pair of Sister Kelly Dark Purple Shoes ($75) by Royal Elastics at Moxsie that I will now begin to covet as a perfect replacement for my old, ugly sneaks.

Amazing Bazaar

Serena & Lily has finally decided to make their Bazaar a fulltime ordeal! Hooray! Yes, the quantities are limited. But you'll never shout an expletive when you click the email link and it says the bazaar is over. There will always be assorted awesomeness from abroad for you to look at. I'm loving their current selection with these Hand-Painted Drum Bowls ($125 for large), the Whisp Ceramic Serving Platter ($125) and the Vintage Bali Wedding Ceremony Chair ($150 each) that would look really amazing in an industrial-style home or a large loft. Beautiful... Pop into the Bazaar whenever you like, and don't forget the Free Swatches deal is almost over!

Something to Clutch

The Ochre Colour Block Clutch (20 Euro) at Miss Selfridge is definitely a new favorite. Its snazzy seventies style speaks to me when paired with neutral colored slacks, a bright button-down blouse, and a pair of brown pumps. Le sigh!

Pretty Falsies for Any Occasion

Image of Peony Eyelashes

I found these beautiful Peony Eyelashes (12 Euro) at Luna & Curious. But they're so hard to style! When can you wear them and with what??

Well I picked out a couple pieces over at ASOS to go with them:

Image 1 of Free People Antique Lace 60's Shift Dress

For night, I'd absolutely pair them with this Antique Lace Dress ($220) by Free People and some stilettos. But they can be work appropriate if you're in a creative field or work with more progressive clients, wearing this Lace Detail Dress ($52 on sale) by Baby Phat. This dress can also work with the lashes for a party, as long as it's a black-appropriate event.

And if you want to wear the lashes during the day.... I'm all about these lovely Scalloped Hem Lace Trim Shorts ($83) by Free People, cute flats, and a simple top. As easy as that!

Adultifying My Kid Fantasies

I'm adoring all the fantastic lollipop options at Vintage Confections! These ornate Fancy Filigree Numbers ($9 each) are a favorite. But I also love all the delicious flavors of their normally-shaped lollies. Sea salted caramel, mint chocolate chip ice cream, and toasted sesame and honey... oh my! They're all like childhood, but more adult. No?

You Can Finally Shop Zara Online!!

Zara is finally open for online shopping! Their coveted style is typically a bit heavy for me, but truly the brand has tons of great pieces you can style in a more feminine way. I thought their brand new online shopping feature on their website would be a good reason to show you why I love these clothes!

Take this gorgeous Strapless Dress ($80) that comes in this gorgeous orangey pink and a pretty ink blue. Add this Belt With Bow ($36), which I like in orange but the teal would be a nice contrast as well. And top it off with this Folded Edge Messenger Bag ($50) in a chic cream. Or if your dress is ink blue, pick the deep berry wine color for the bag.

Then there's this fantastic Printed Silk Jacket ($100) that I must have! But how do you style something this bold? You can find the other pieces at Zara too!

Start with a great pant like these Trousers With Belt ($60) and then toss on the Frilly Voile T-Shirt ($36). Add some Combined Platform Ankle Boots ($130) to play with the blue tones in the shirt and jacket. And then carry the Combined Patent Leather Satchel ($50) for a super-chic finish that will go with almost any outfit this fall.

There's two absolutely gorgeous outfits you can create from Zara's new store! The first one is party-ready and the second is totally work appropriate. Dress down the shoes and either can be fairly casual for a day of errands or shopping!
